Over the years, I did never asked my customer to buy a rug pad as i always thought that they will think i am pushing them or overselling them until one day a customer advised me that i should give them the options based on my knowledge and leave it on them whether to buy it or not.

This is when I started to suggest all my customers to buy a rug pad along with their purchase and trust me, the difference is amazing. Not only do they feel more confident about their purchase but also are more likely to come back and shop again.

Based on my experience in the industry - I will try to explain here why a rug pad is necessary and absolutely worth it.

Is a rug pad worth it?

It's absolutely advisable to use non-slip rug padding to prevent the possibility for someone to get into an unsecured carpet which cannot hold up to its surface well. The pad also provides added protection when you are vacuuming and removing furniture. A rug pad holds the rug in its position and do not let the rug move so there's no buckling of rug and no curving of edges. A good pad provide cushioning and protect floors to extend the life of your rug.

Type of Rug Pad

The carpet pads can come from many different materials. Although differences may appear subtle, they can affect performances. The best rug pad depends on the size of your rug and the usage of your floor pad.

Here are some points to consider while purchasing a rug pad:

There is no definitive answer to this question since it depends on a variety of factors, such as the type of rug you have, the amount of foot traffic in your home, and your personal preferences. However, most experts recommend using a rug pad that is at least 1/4-inch thick in order to protect your floors and prolong the life of your rug.

This question is not as easy to answer because there are many factors to consider that goes in a price for an area rug.

How are Hand Loomed Rugs made ?

Handloom rugs are traditionally hand woven on a vertical loom with a mounted wrap. They often have no fringes or proper secured ends or sides. The making of them is by pressing strands of fiber together by using thin threading. The technique of weaving is a reverse of knots and wefts. Here the knots are wrapped around the wraps. The weaving operation continues in the horizontal lines. The thickness of the rod determines the depth of the pile height.

Loomed rugs usually have a loose back the same as the hand-tufted rugs back has in its initial stage. So, these rugs goes through the process of applying synthetic latex and a cloth sheet to the carpets back to join them together. The latex provides strength to the handloom rug, which saves it from disentangling.

Then came the “double back hand-loom rug” technique. Double back handloom rugs don’t need any backing support as they have a tight back like the hand-knotted rugs. Handloom rugs are Inexpensive and cost effective because it takes very less production time.

They only carry designs in boxes, stripes and other regular geometrical designs. They are mostly made in the plain with embossments. However, they can have a beautiful loop pile, cut pile or a mix of both in them.

The technique of making hand-loom carpet is as such that their pattern gets confined to some extent. This very limitation leads to the main and the only disadvantage of handloom carpets. In other words, a hand loomed rug, in general, follows only a few simple geometrical patterns.
